Williams Medical Supplies was established in 1986 to supply general medical practitioners nationally with a wide range of medical products including vaccines and injectables.
Originally based in Northfleet, Kent, the Company transferred its main administrative, purchasing and central warehouse functions to Rhymney in 1992.
During 1998 Williams invested in further development of its office and warehouse facilities with the purchase of the Whitbread Centre in Rhymney.
This move to new premises proved to be highly beneficial to the business, yet within just 6 years the company's growth meant that new, larger premises were needed again. In January 2004, the company fully utilised warehousing space on the Maerdy Industrial Estate in Rhymney.
Following a major refurbishment, the new 76,000 sq ft warehouse opened in 2005. 2006 saw the unveiling of Williams’ prestigious new Rhymney headquarters, Craiglas House on the site.
The use of slate and steel in the new office building reflects the heritage of the area, whilst state of the art technology to keep the building at an even temperature shows the promise of the future. Also under the Williams umbrella is Merlin Medical and Seward Thackray.
